It's time!

I'm getting a second kitteh on Saturday!

I'm a little nervous about introductions and getting kitteh to the vet, etc. I'm really hoping that Wyn will be easy-going about the new baby.

I'm not sure whether the kitten is male or female. The woman who's giving them away doesn't know how to tell the difference. Not that it means much to me, but it would be nice to know beforehand, lol.

I have some prep work to do tomorrow night and then I get the baby on Saturday around 3pm.

*bites fingernails*

We'll see how this turns out...

Wyn is a bad, bad kitteh. Good thing her person is a bad, bad girl... They get along great!

How exciting for you!!! I think it's a good idea to be as prepared ahead of time as you can. I know that helped when I picked up Zoey. Please be sure you share lots of pics with us, and enjoy that new kitten!!!

I just found out I have to get the new kitten tonight!

I am soooo not prepared. But I just spend an hour straightening and cleaning, so, hopefully, all will go well...........

So far, this is not a fun introduction for Wyn. Of course, it's only the first little bit of time they've been in the same house, albeit with a door separating them. Wyn does not like it at all. I hope it gets better.

Okay, so it's the next morning... I could use some words of encouragement, if anyone has some.

Wyn is still growling and hissing, and sometimes, since I smell like the new baby, she hisses at me.

Also, the new baby is frightened and he is crying and crying. He hasn't really eaten and he hasn't used the litter box yet. It worries me a bit. I can't see any other place that he's used as a box.

I'm really feeling like I just need to escape. I want to let the poor baby out because his crying just rips out my heart.

Perhaps you could exchange their rooms. Put the new baby in a carrier, let your kitty in that room, and close the door. Then bring the kitten out with you for a while. This way the new kitten will have more freedom and time for love, and both will get used to one another's odor. I would do this frequently. I would also put a drop of vanilla on the back of each one's neck so that they smell more like each other. Changing bedding and toys helps also.

I would keep them isolated from one another for another 10-11 days. When they meet, one should be in a playpen or carrier. Try to make every contact special with treats, praise, petting, and playing.

Just take your time. I hope all works out well. I think they need only time. Good luck.
