Which is better, apples or oranges?
They aren't the same and I love both. Though I am also very picky about which breed of dogs I have - I am a big dog person and have no use for small dogs. And, for the most part, the more hair they have, the better I like them.
Skin kids - Jason, Kevin, Allison
Canine kids - Bennett & Bailey (always in our hearts), Riley, Banker, Rogue and Boz
Feline kids - Zoey, Talley and Abra
Well this IS a cat forum so I'd say you'll mostly get cats, I used to manily a dog person but now I can't say I really like one over the other I can't vote as I love them both equally just in different ways.
I'm much more of a dog person in general. I feel guilty saying it, but Skylar has proved that to me much more. Addison (bridge kitty) was an amazing first cat. Simple, low maintanence, well behaved and super sweety and lovey... but not clingy. Skylar (granted, she's still a kitten) is only affectionate when she wants to be, and that is rarely. She's stubborn, trouble and (thanks to my mom and brother) a biter. Not a mean biter... but a "oh, lets play chew on the hand now!" biter.
I also like to DO things with dogs. This weekend was great - my friend has a huge yard and 7 dogs (doberman, aussie and a bunch of tiny min pins and schnauzers). Her parents were out of town so I spent the better part of three days with Brody (dog) at her house... it was nice to just sit in the yard and watch the dogs play...
Brody loves when company comes and even more so if they bring her someone to play with. Skylar on the othe hand is aloof with strangers (which is ok) but is miserable with another animal in the house. And its just how most cats are.
However, cats are generally much easier keepers than dogs. I start to stress if Brody's alone too long... she tends to eat things around the house when she's bored. Plus, she needs to go out to go to the bathroom whereas Skylar has a potty 24/7. I've never actually gone on vacation and needed someone to watch them other than my mom. I'd freak out that Brody didn't have someone home with her overnight and merely got a few walks a day. However, I think Skylar would be just fine as long as she had fresh food and a clean litterbox... I doubt she'd miss me at all!
"There is no snooze button on a cat who wants breakfast."
I like both but I do better with dogs because I love to work with them as oppose to cats. I love to do agility and walk my dog everywhere I go. Also my dog loves to run on the bicycle and that is something I enjoy to do. They are both different animals though and each serves their purpose.
