Cat drinking my water -health risks?

We have many bowl of water dotted around the house for the girls to make use of but there is only one place they will drink water from - my cup! Now if I get a drink of water I have to drink it at the tap if I put it onto a table I hear the lapping sounds within a second! It has got to the stage where if my water has been left unguarded it get left for the cats and I get myself a new one. Am I being overly sensitive about drinking water the cats have had their faces and tongues in? I am more than happy to have a nose rub but water seems more risky! Just I have watched Chloe go to toilet, clean herself then have a drink from my cup Any ideas how to wean them off my cups and back to their bowls?

Get a cup with a lid on it! I have a 20oz coffee cup with a lid that snaps on. Be warned- they might tip the cup over

The more people I meet the more I love my cat!

How about allotting a glass to the cats...when you get yourself a drink, get them one too. I'm betting it's the fact that it's nice fresh cold water that attracts them. It might also be that they like the glass, I think we have someone here who's cat will only drink from a glass not a bowl.

I've kept a glass of fresh water out for my cats for ten years I've heard we can get worms from them that way. But in fifteen years of drinking after cats, I have yet to catch anything.
