Da Bird Died :(

Last week, the Da Bird feather attachment was finally put out of its misery. It wasn't old, but it was well loved. The feathers didn't even look like feathers anymore and finally the entire attachment broke off. I tied a mousey to the end of the string, but apparently that's not as interesting.

The past few days, Sebastian has been going to stand on the chair next to the big cabinets in my living room (I keep Da Bird on top). He just stands there, looks up and yowls. He even goes over there and cries while I'm trying to play with him using the mousey Da Bird or the laser pointer...it's just not the same! Poor kitty!

You can buy replacements, but for heavens sake, don't buy them at Petsmart. They're about double the price there.

Oops.......sorry, just took note of your location.

But I'll let my post stand for others who need to buy replacements.

You can make your own replacements, but it's a trick to get the feathers set right, so it whirls properly. And they're never quite the real thing.

I'm working on it, but the shipping is killer! My poor, neglected baby will have to deal with it until I can get them! haha

Oh, they change their minds. Lately Rocket has been having fun with the yellow puff ball that I call "the canary."

I know the sight of a cat looking longingly up at the top of a shelf, where he knows Da Bird is. It's a sad sight and makes me worry he's going to try to climb the shelves.

Holly, don't be surprised if he does. Cremepuff used to climb the bookcases to get into the dog treats. She thought they were great. And the Colllies opened the sliding doors to get to the catfood, which they though was ambrosia.

If a kitty looks intently at you, then to Da Bird's resting spot, and back and forth, the kitty is telling you, "I wanna play with Da Bird! Now!"

lol, it's more then intense looks...it's yowling and looking back and forth from my cabinet to me. I took this picture of him yesterday because he was relentless!

It's like he's saying, "Da Biiiiirrrdd! Why you want to leeeaaaave meeeeee?". He just won't let up! I hope there's not like actually a dead rat up there or something
