Scooter attacked my lizard yesterday !!

I was sitting in the computer room, looked over and saw that Scooter was playing with something .. at first I thought it was one of their catnip mice, but then it moved !!!! OMG ... Scooter had pulled, YES PULLED, the pet screen off our lizard enclosure and one of the young Uromastyx lizards got out (or Scooter went in and got him) and some how got all the way to the computer room, mind you the computer room is at one of the house, and the enclosures are at the other end, so I’m not sure if Scooter carried him or if the lizard ran the whole way.

I grabbed the little Lizard (Albert), put him back in his enclosure, locked the cat in the bathroom so I could exam Albert without the fear of the cat attacking again. Seems he got his eye and face, but not so bad that Albert will lose the eye. I took him to an ER vet close by and they said he is just favoring his eye by keeping the lid closed but the eye is still in tact. They gave me some anti-biotic ointment to put on the eye 3x per day. Albert is in a separate enclosure now so I can better monitor him while he heals.

Scooter isn't in trouble, he was just doing what is naturally breed into him, but it scared the you know what outta me!

Anyone got any suggestions on how I can keep the cats away from the lizard enclosures???

Keep a closed door between them. Get a secure (cat-proof) lid set-up.

Those are the only two things I can think of. Like you said, the cat was only being a cat. We have to think of ways to be certain they stay seperated so the lizards remain safe.

You could make the lizard enclosure stronger to resist Scooter.
Maybe replace the screen with glass, and put in a small fan to draw in outside air and circulate it.

The fan can be the kind used to cool computers, powered by a small, low-current, 12V power adaptor.
