That is not your best side, Hersh!

Please reassure me I am not the only one...

I will start out by saying that Hersheys is the sweetest cat. She is my love bug, but.....Why does she always stick her butt in my face. If I am laying down and she is cuddling close and I roll over to pet her, she stands up, turns around and salutes me with her rear end. She is purring and standing on her tip toes the whole time loving the attention. If she is on the cat tree...same story. Every time I give her pets and love...she gives me the one eyed stare! What is up with that?? Is it a female cat thing? None of my boys have ever done that to me.

Hersh, I love you dearly hun, but keep your rear out of my face!

It seems pretty rude from a human perspective, Vanessa, but Hershey is being friendly in kitty language. She is communicating with you as if you were her feline friend.
Don't be offended, just smile and know she loves you.

Have you ever noticed that cats do that with one another? Its like a greeting. Scent plays a huge role with animals you know! So they sniff your face, give you headbutts and invite you to take a whiff at them!

I've seen programs on TV about lions & tigers and other big cats, and they do the same thing.

YUp....humans shake hands or hug to greet each other...cats sniff each others butts. It's a sign of affection and trust.

Alvin, out Alpha Male has done this ever since being a kitten. He climbs on my wifes knee, clambers up onto her shoulder, checks out her hair then climbs down and sticks his butt in her face while "sossing" on her tummy and purring like ten.

Definately a sign of love and trust.

Mick.

I remember my first Christmas with Cinderella. On Christmas Eve, as soon as the clock hit midnight, she was on the end of my bed, and I knelt down beside her and told her how much I loved her and how much she meant to me. I was actually in tears. She put her nose next to mine, then stood up and put her butt in my face. I was devastated, but I when I posted here about it, I was reassured it was affection.
