So I finally found someone to watch the baby while I'm travelling this summer. One of my former students is going to take him for about 5 weeks, and then my friend Melanie will take him for another few weeks until I come back from the US.
I have to admit that although I'm happy to have found someone I trust, I'm also fairly nervous about the situation. I had hoped to find another expat who could take him, but everyone I know is going to be travelling as well. My student, Sharin, has never had a cat before, so I'm going to have to leave a really detailed list of to do's and not to do's. I think I'm going to ask her to come over every day until next Friday so he can get used to her first. Sebastian is really good around people and loves attention so I hope it won't be a problem. Melanie, who is taking him when she comes back from home (South Africa) has been watching him when I go out of town since he was a kitten, and he adores her. He goes nuts when she comes over. I just don't want him to be too stressed out.
I'll be home for a few days midway through my travels and I'll bring him back here for a few days, but I'm still worried! Any tips on helping him adjust to life in a new home without me? And any ideas I should include in my instructions to her?
Any tips from foster mommies or recipients of older foster cats would be really helpful! Thanks
