Volunteering at a Cat Rescue

Well, I am really excited. I wrote the lady who took in Sparta (a feral) I had a while back to tell her if she ever needed any help with little things at a store close by to me to let me know! I told her I am not available too much but would like to be used as much as I am able. So we decided I could stop by and the clean the in-store cages out whenever I am available. I did it the other day. I just brush out the cages, change the litter, fill the bowls, give fresh water and wipe down the cages. There are only about 8 cages. There were only 4 cats that day but they are full on the weekends when they are not with their fosters.

The cages are kinda small but they have cat trees and toys that have been donated which I thought was cool.

I wonder how much they get picked up and played with. I was thinking I would try today when I go. They didn't seem to be afraid of people, but they were a little shy. Plus they had never seen me before.

Perhaps get some interactive cat toys, like ribbon-onna-stick, or sparkly-bell-thingie-onna-stick. That way they can play, but not have to get too close to a person they don't really know?

Well, I just got back. I picked up a couple of them and pet the others. They were fine with it. There was a pair of brother kittens that were sooo adorable. So hard not to take them all home!
