Can they tell?

My girls have been so good lately, it's almost scary. Do they know Mom is going through a rough time? They sure are watching me all the time!

Sometimes, they look away and try to act innocent, but I know they were watching....

Cali trying to get me to smile

And they're even getting along better!

Whatever the reason, I'll take it.

My two boys don't do this, but my Fuzzy (Silver), who is 9, knows when I'm not feeling well. I have bursitis in both hips that acts up every now and then. When I'm feeling good she never does this, but when my hips hurt, she sleeps stretched out over my leg/hip all night long. She also tends to lay wrapped around my head sometimes when I have a migraine, which she NEVER does unless I have a bad headache. I sure think they can tell... at least that's what I'm choosing to believe

What gorgeous photos...such expressions...I'm sure they do know! Look at those faces, who'd believe they don't know? I love the picture in which she's trying to make you laugh...so sweet.

Absolutely!
The more time people will spend getting to know and interacting with their pets, the more attuned each becomes to the other. We learn to recognized their different voices if we have ore than one cat and what each different meow for each different cat means. For them, they are attuned to us and take their cues from ur behavior. If we are subdued, they are quieter and more watchful, sometimes snuggle-y and clingy. If we are animated and happy they get bouncy, mischevious and playful.
Pets are like an emotional barometer.

Of course they know. They love you, and worry about you.

hmmm... I'm not sure I believe they can "worry".
Having said that, I have no doubt that they know something's up. They obviously sense something in the air lol.

My cats can completely tell when I'm having a hard time. Just like I can tell pretty much immediatly when they don't feel well. Its something that comes from a strong close relationship with your pet.

Those pictures are adorable. Look at those big owl eyes.

I love those pictures, Marie! Especially Cali saying,"Smile, Mommy, smile!".

As predators, kitties are aware of subtle changes in the behavior of their prey. I'm sure they're also aware of little changes is our behavior when we're upset, worried, or not feeing well.

The kitties do what they can to try to make you feel better.

I know Arianwen gets much more snuggly when I'm not feeling well.
