Getting new kitten tomorrow...advice please!

Hi all,

We currently have a 4 month old girl kitten and tomorrow we are getting a 12 week old persian boy.

I've been advised that being so young, they will hopefully bond fairly well but wondered if anyone had any advice to offer.

We don't particularly want a re-make of Freddie vs Jason in our home!!

Many thanks,
Sam

At those ages, I don't think you need worry. You're getting the kitten from a breeder, I take it? So the new boy's health has been vetted already? I'd say, just turn the little guy loose and see what the girl's reaction is. If it's a negative reaction, then separate him immediately and proceed to do the full new cat intro. If the new kitten hasn't been vetted already, I'd keep them separate regardless until he's been cleared.

Post some pictures when you can.

Thanks for the reply.

Yes, he's been vetted and is also from a reputable breeder.

So far they've not been too bad. There has been some hissing and a lot of territorial behaviour from the original kitten. We're quite happy so far yet long for that moment when (or 'if') they curl up together.

We're just monitoring them at the moment and hoping they bond. It could have been a lot worse, I'm certain!
