A talkative cat!

My latest kitten (a stray) Cromwell, is unlike any other cat I have ever known.

He hardly ever "miaows" but is is non the less very talkative. He chirps and warbles and coos. If there are any Star Trek fans out there, he often sounds like a Tribble (The Trouble with Tribbles (TOS) / Trials and Tribbilations (DS9)).

I always answer him, be cause he so often sounds as if he is asking a question.

Does anyone else have a talkative cat?

Randy likes to alert us that he has left a deposit of the stinky kind in the litter box. He sounds almost panicked, yowling like "HEY MAN, YOU GOTTA SEE THIS!!!!" He only does this after the deposit is made, not during the actual procedure.

He's also pretty vocal when he can't find what he wants, whether it be mom, Major Tom, da Bird, or the ribbon-thingie.

Major Tom is only talkative while I'm fixing dinner.

In college I had a cat who would greet me on the porch and chat away the entire time while I was unlocking the door, putting my stuff away, rooting around for various and sundry things...he'd keep it up (with me responding) until I sat down to do homework, then he'd chirp and off he went.

Hugh, I think I know the exact sound you're talking about. Murphy has a distinct cry that says to me, "Where are you?" It's different than any other noise he makes. I just yell back, "I'm in here, honey," and he comes trotting in.

Does he do a proper meow or is it odd? It's really hard to describe the noise Peggy normally makes, but it's like she hasn't been taught properly

Cheddar is the most talkative cat I've known, and he doesn't have a sweet dainty meow, but more like a long low "MRREERRROOOWWW!". He also coos and chirps quite a bit too. Sadie only meows when she wants food, and Trixie hardly ever makes a sound, but when she does, its more of a squeak than a meow.

(Tommy Talkalot is such a cute name! )

Gracie is a warbler/mumbler/non-meower! I think she's only meowed once, in the kitchen about some food - it came out really loud and she seemed surprised! My favorite is the little up-and-down "OOO-oo-OOO-ooo-OUU?" she'll say when she's a little bored or wants to play just before bed...

Arianwen is a fairly vocal kitty. She has distinct meows for food, to ask to go out, and for play. She also coos, chirps, trills, brrrrups, and sometimes cough-barks to warn me of danger. She very softly says a few words of English, too. She says, "Goooo-out!", sometimes, or if she's looking out the window and I ask her what she sees, she tells me,"Bird", or,"Bug", or,"Dog", or,"Big dog!". And one time, when I was getting ready to take her on a walk, she said,"We go out now?", pretty clearly.
If she sees I'm having trouble walking, she asks,"Hurt?", and nuzzles my leg.
I'm learning more of her meows as time goes on, too.
I love my sweet, smart little Kitta!

It seems there are a lot of smart, talkative kitties here!

Taz loves to talk. If you sneeze he will come running and meow and make it sound like a question as if he is asking if you are ok. You have to answer or else he will keep talking to you until you do.
