Wish me luck!

I've been putting off taking the girls in for their annual exams - they were ALL due in June. But the twins need their 1-year shots so I can't wait until I'm working again, which was my plan. For four cats, I get a 20% discount, which will definitely help. Plus, I can get their nails clipped at the discount rate also.

After this, my neighbor said he can clip their nails with me so I was going to take him up on his offer. They have dogs and cats and his wife is the head groomer at Petco or Petsmart. How much do you think I should pay him? I already give him all my recycleable water and soda bottles (and that's a LOT!) since we don't have recycle bins and he takes them in for the money. He was also laid off right before me. I was thinking $5 per cat. That's $20 every few weeks, and it'll just take a couple minutes per cat. I can take the cats to a groomer myself for $8 per cat. Also, I was going to ask him if I could bring them to his house (one at a time), because I don't want the girls to associate guests coming over with bad experiences. What do you think?

I think that sounds more than fair.

I do, too.
We had a kitty in California named Tiger who had chronic ear problems for a while. The lady I used to board my horse with worked at a vet office as the surgery assistant. When any of my cats needed a spay/neuter, she would pick them up in the AM and take them to work with her to do what needed to be done and then bring them back to me on her way home. I was on her drive.
I think $20 is more than fair, in addition to the recyclables you are giving them.
Anyhow, I meant to say when Tiger was going through his ear trouble, she had me bring him to her house every other evening and she helped me irrigate his ears. It seemed to be less stress to do it in her bathroom rather than have him accosted at home. She said he would struggle a lot less at her house than in his home.
