Blacklight

It looks like Butch has taken to spraying. Hes 5 years old and was spayed when he was around 6 months old. I've caught him doing the odd spray but not the kitchen just stinks. And with the layout of our house people have got to come through the kitchen to get in.

So, is there a particular type of blacklight to get to find where it is hes doing it?

They sell them in petstores around here, get the type like a flouescent tube. The bulbs like the ones sold in headshops get way to hot and don't give off enough UV.

like this...

I need to pick one up myself, but I'm afraid to. Kinda like that episode of CSI where the entire room and walls illuminated.

All UV lights are good, but obviously the strip ones are better.

Edit: Removed sense of humour.

I've tried several kinds and the one sold by the Urine-Off people is definitely superior. It has something to do with the UV light spectrum it emits. Not all blacklights are equal. The Urine-Off's light simply is better at making urine flouresce.

Sorry to hear about Butch. That's a real problem. At least where you live there's public acceptance for outdoor cats. That's been the only solution I've been able to come up with, and here it's illegal for Rocket to be out, but he's out there anyway. So far nobody's turned him in, but I think the neighbors are getting a little tired of seeing an orange cat on their property.

How about that? It's only 3 quid with your voucher.

It's not the same thing Hugh. Urine-Off wouldn't tell me the secret of their UV tube. Whether those are as good depends entirely on the UV tube's spectrum. I suppose it's worth three quid just to find out.

Thanks for the hunt Huge I think I'm set on getting the urine off one. It is on ebay so I'll just have to get it there. My voucher is valid for 3 years so I'll save it for something else hehe.
