Wish me luck - Part II

Tomorrow is Cinderella's annual check-up. After her disappearing act last week, I'll shut my bedroom door when I get and the twin's door after they get up. That should do it.

I'm wondering how to respond if they want a blood test. She'll be 6 years old later this month, I can't remember what age is for "senior" cats, I thought it was 6 years old. But she had a blood test when she had her dental work done last year, so shouldn't that be good enough since she's in good health? I guess I won't feed her breakfast in case they talk me into it. And I just know they're going to tell me she needs ANOTHER dental scraping.

Do you feed Princess Cinderella any kibble at all? I give Arianwen some before bedtime on the hunch that it will scrape her teeth a little.
Seems to work, since her vet says her teeth are in excellent shape.
Good luck at the vet

All four girls get a little kibble at bedtime. Cinderella's teeth have been bad since Day 1 with her.

Cleo's gums were REALLY red near the back and her back teeth need cleaning.

Charlee also has gingivitis and her back teeth need cleaning, but can probably wait another 6 months to a year, according to my vet. Cali's gums are just a little pink in the back.

From what I can tell, most vets consider cats seniors at 8. Charts for converting cat years to human years vary a bit, but an 8 year old cat is the equivalent of about a 48 year old human...and I don't consider myself a senior!

I usually start annual bloodwork at age 10-11 (56-60 in human years).

If you had a blood test last year that was normal, I'd recommend taking a pass. That's not inexpensive labwork if they want to do the complete profile.

And good luck and good health to you, Cinderella. Your human we call Marie needs you around to aggravate her and make her think that you need her. Oh, and some kitty-kisses and head-bumps would be appropriate for all the trouble she goes through for you.

Good luck at the vet. Maybe they will say that she is just the most perfect kitty in the world.

She was soooo good at the vet! She lost a little weight, she's 8.87 lbs., but that's within her range, she gains and loses (just like her Mommy). They're going to have me come back in a couple months to weigh her again just to make sure she's not losing any more, though.

She's been so picky lately that if she wants food at 2 a.m., I'll get up and feed her.

But she usually takes two bites and walks away.
