Molly bit me

Yesterday afternoon I had to give Molly a bath because she had poopie in the hair on the back of her legs. As I had her scruffed she turned around and bit my hand just above the wrist.

At 5 am this morning the area was red and swollen. By the time I got in to see the doctor at 10:15 am the red/swollen area was 4x greater in size with my fingers being numb and tingly. Red streak going half way up my inner forearm, pain almost all the way up to the armpit.

Got a tetanus shot and script for antibiotics and sent on my way.

I think Molly won the fight..lol.

Wow Lea-Ann! It sure sounds like she won! That will teach you for trying to give her a bath!

A friend of mine had the same thing happen to her the day before she was leaving for Mexico, so it must not be an uncommon reaction.

When my cat bit my son, I was told to wash it under RUNNING water for 15 to 20 minutes, scrubbing the whole time with soap. Apparently, they get infected really easily.

Isn't a red streak a sign of blood poisoning?

Yes, red streaks indicate blood poisoning, which is very dangerous, and why it's so important to keep your tetnus shots up-to-date! I'm glad you got treatment!
