Fleas and Mites

My boyfriend and I shaved our Persian last night to discover red bumps and a rash. He was a rescue so I was aware of a mite and flea problem when we got him but he was supposed to be healed by now...any suggestions?? I have an appt with a vet tomorrow.

Re: Fleas and Mites

The red bumps and rash could be from razor burn... animals get it just like people and it's just as much as a pain for animals as it is for us to the point I've seen a dog scratch herself open so bad that she required stitches. Good thing she was already at the vets as she had just been spayed and where they shaved her for the surgery they had given her a razor burn.

If it's not razor burn it could be an allergic reaction to something, maybe the lube that was put on the clippers or even the metal of the blades.

Can you see any black dirt on the body or in the ears? If you wash the cat does the water change to a rusty tinge? if so it might be fleas/mites.

Hopefully the vet appointment can clear things up though.
