Oh, Don't You Just LOVE Those Kitty Love-Bites?

Even though they HURT. I went to give the kitties a treat...I put it on foil and placed my fingers on the bottom to support me. Simba went to grab the treat...AND GRABBED MY FINGER WITH IT. He bit me. Most importantly, he didn't ingest any of the foil. It wasn't a bad puncture wound...It bled, but not like I thought it would after I felt it. lol Actually, the blood surfaced, but when I squeezed it (to let it bleed out a bit), it started to come out. (Gross). So I ran it under water and my mom put bacetracin (sp?) on it, and a band-aid. I took a picture, but stupid phone doesn't show how it really looks. It doesn't look bad at all. So, my mom is going to watch it, and if it starts to look infected...I'll have to go in. But right now, it feels fine...Hurts a bit, but hey, it's a bite. It's not Simba's fault, it's mine. Lesson learned!

I'm glad it's not serious, Megan. Keep an eye on it, though.
Reminds me of one time when Arianwen bit me accidentally when I gave her some treats. She let go as soon as she realized she had my finger, and apologized profusely. Poor baby, she really felt bad about it.

Ouch! I hope it heals fast! Squirrel does that with treats, we have to toss them to her because she becomes so crazed.

And Marvin, good lord he's just nuts. He is obsessed with people's feet. I mean OBSESSED with biting them to the point of punture wounds. And he does it only when he is feeling snuggly and loving, lol

It's looking pretty good, thank goodness!

John, Simba didn't even seem to care. Maybe it WASN'T an accident?

Poor Megan! How's it healing? I hear some cat bites can be quite nasty. A few months ago, my uncle was bitten by a friend's cat and spent several nights in the hospital due to a resulting staph infection! I was so freaked that a few weeks ago, Sebastian got me bad in the foot at 5 am, and I couldn't get back to sleep until I'd gotten up and washed it with soap and water Take care of yourself! Simba, don't bite the hand that feeds you!

Robin and...

Simba said it was because I took too long to give it to him. I'll be quicker next time...

It is almost healed...Lookin' pretty good.

Re: Oh, Don't You Just LOVE Those Kitty Love-Bites?

I just wanted to stress how important it is to clean and disinfect your skin after a cat love bite.
I'm trying to break my cats out of the habit of nipping me while I pet them, but in the meantime,
I have at least one bite mark that developed a mild rash under the skin from their mouth bacteria.
It was my fault for not irrigating the bite mark properly with disinfectant - so live and learn I guess.
