Asked to catsit.

Remember Cal and Leona? Their mama might be visiting family in Maryland. She said there's no one she'd trust more with her cats. I'd love to-but! If it were just 1, O.K.,probably. But these are 2 nervous characters. Their home life hasn't always been good-although there's been tremendous improvement! And Cal's been getting sick. I just realized! There's me,Percy,Cal,Leona There'd be 2 males, and 2 females in the house!

Re: Asked to catsit.

Are they near you? Can you catsit them in their own house?

Re: Asked to catsit.

I will happily pet-sit for anyone...in their own home. I could not bring someone else's pets into my home and disrupt not only the other cats, but my own as well. Can you watch your friend's cats in their own home where they feel safest?

I only cat or dog sit in the persons home. Its too stressful on their cats to move them to my house. Plus mine would be stressed also.

Re: Asked to catsit.

Gee,I never thought of catsitting them in their home! That would be much better. How about taking one or the other for a visit?

For a visit of what? Cats (99.9% of the time) are not like dogs, happy to go wherever the person goes. Cats much prefer the familiarity of their own surroundings and do not take to having 'intruder animals' visiting very well and don't get comfortable when taken to another cat's territory.

IMO, leave your cats at your home and your friend's cats at their home and check on them 1-2 times/day. All of the cats will be much happier this way.

Re: Asked to catsit.

If Percy is a cat, I still think most cats do not like to travel and go visiting other cats in places that are not their own homes. I have only known ONE cat like that, and my Reilly (99-07) passed away last year. Rei LOVED to travel by car and he LOVED going places (mostly hubby's work during the day and back home at night). Rei was also the only cat who has been welcomed into our home with NO (and I mean NONE) problems or hiccups with introductions.
