Brief update on Taylor...

As I have posted before we adopted a 6 year old spayed, declawed cat about 2 months ago.. she was eating cat chow her old owner was hoping I wouldn't change anything..
The ingredients on her food was so bad though that I thought if I did it really carefully and gradually I would do her no harm..
So I set about introducing just a few bites of a new better food.. at first she just picked around it. Then hardly noticable the left over good food got smaller but still she left a lot of it.
To cut a long story short.. she LOVES her new food eats every last morcel it is still mixed a little with CC until this lot is gone and we can cut the CC right out..we love the new food too it smells soo yummy and she is poooping much less..

She still stays upstairs though after about 10am she leaves the downstairs and sleeps in my closet where I made her a little bed it is an open closet so when we go upstairs we talk to her, pet her she seems happy when she sees us not scared, just chilling..
Then around 7pm she comes downstairs and as I've said before she's the life of the party jumping chairs to see everyone and being totally social.
Now bedtime at first I was adament she not get used to being in the bedroom we have such crazy work schedules that I thought it would be too much, (I get up at 4am 4 days of the week) (Hubby goes to bed at 2am as he works the late shift)..
Anyway it ended up she would perch on the edge of the bed and wouldnt' bother us in the slightest so she got to stay..
However she's now moved up and sleeps next to my head next to my pillow, so I put her a fleecy blanket down there so she knows it's her spot and she's been sleeping there ever since..
On the days i'm on earlies she still comes down with me for breakfast which I love...

So that's my happy update, she's next to me now too... part of me still feels worried that she has no participation in the family life what so ever during the day.. NON!! But then when I see how outgoing she is later it puts my mind at rest..

Thanks for reading.. I love reading everyone elses posts I just don't feel comfortable yet sharing advice or comparisons since we are still so knew at this...

I'm so happy to hear Taylor is doing so well, and getting along so well in your home.

But, you MUST post some pictures, if you haven't already.

Re: Brief update on Taylor...

Please do share. Sometimes, you'll never know what little bit of experience or thought you shared that helped another pet owner. I think it sounds like your kitty loves her new home and family. I especially liked hearing about how social she is in the evening.

I have a cat who is like the Walmart Greeter, she MUST come and meow at any guest who comes in the door. If she isn't in the living room when I let someone in (before they knocked or rang the bell) I'll call for her to come 'say hello' and she comes running and trilling and then breaks out into meow-song when she sees the guest.

Cats are so crazy. I love them.

Re: Brief update on Taylor...

Taylor sounds like she has made herself right at home with you . Many of my cats are less active during the day, and I often will find them sleeping in their favorite hiding spots. Cats are silly and like to keep us guessing all the time.
