Doran's an unhappy boy tonight

Well, today was Doran's day to get neutered.

I took him in this morning, and he was upset in the car. Not because he doesn't like being in the car...he was actually mad that I made him stay in the kennel. Usually I use his lead and tie him to the passenger chair. I finallygave in and let him out...and he sprayed in my backseat. *sighs*

To be fair he looked just as shocked as I did, and I bet the reason for it is that I had transported a few of my ferals (2 males, 1 female) to get snipped last month. He must have smelled them. The look on his face was so funny though, she was like 'OMG! What's happening?' It was cute...and yet awful. I put him back in the kennel after that.

On the way home this evening he cried...my poor boy. He's still a little drugged out, and a teeny bit upset. Muffin missed him so bad! He pounced him right after Doran left the kennel. Since I had to separate him last night (muffin's too young to go without food/water for a night so I had to lock Doran away) and then took him in first thing this morning they didn't see each other for about 24 hrs. They def. missed each other.

I still can't believe he sprayed in the car...anyone else have some interesting 'getting fixed' stories?

Re: Doran's an unhappy boy tonight

I told about getting Mousie and Bonnie spayed in 1995 or 1996. When they came home, they were still very groggy so I closed us in the Living Room away from the other kitties. Bonnie went into the pottybox and was in there for a while so I bent over to check on her...and she had fallen asleep in the squat position with her head pressed against the side of the hood. I got my camera, came back and took a photo THEN woke her up and brought her out of the box.
Mousie needed to go, but every time she would dig a hole and put her head down to check it, she would sommersault over. After doing this about 4 times I reached in and grabbed her by the scruff to haul her out. As soon as I had her scruff and lifted her a bit, she began to pee so I just held her there until she was done.
Bonnie settled right down to sleep and Mousie kept wandering around and crying. I finally wrapped her in a towel for imobilization and set her on my lap and she fell right to sleep.

No, I haven't had any problems, other than keeping them quiet for a few days. I put them in my bedroom, so they have some peace and quiet.

Poor Doran, I guess he didn't spray on purpose! He shocked himself...instinct, I guess.

Poor Doran! I hope he feels better tomorrow.

Little things like Doran's surprise give us a brief glimpse into the mind of a cat.
