Has her time come?

Hi everyone. I've had my cat for awhile. I'm 19 years old, my cat is nearing her 17th birthday. Most all of my childhood memories involve her and she's like a sister to me. My mother loves her to death as well, we found her on the street as a kitten and wanted to help her out of the rain. She has been the greatest cat ever and I had a question about some of her actions. She's starting to urinate on the floor which she's never done before, she's also started getting large clots of hair all over her body. The hair is getting matted up and tough. She wants attention all day long, I can't leave her for a minute. Has her time come? I don't even know how I'm going to cope with it when I don't see that stomach breathing anymore.

Re: Has her time come?

Hi there and sorry to hear about your kitty

Have you been to the vet with her? She might have a urinary infection if she is weeing on the floor. If she isn't feeling well, then she won't groom herself so that might be why she is getting a matted coat.

17 is a good age for a cat. I would take her to the vet and ask him for his advice. She might just need some antibiotics and/or special food to keep her well until her time has come.

Let us know what he says

Shawn,
Have you taken your kitty to the vet? It sounds like a kidney problem. Please take her to her vet as soon as possible, and just love her and make her as comfortable as you can. Purrs and prayers for you and your kitty. Sparky

The more people I meet the more I love my cat!

Yes, vet for sure. At that age, I would take her at least every 6 months for a check up and blood work.

I agree. A cat who is feeling sick won't groom. and will seek attention. You should bring your cat to the vet, Shawn.
Prayers that she will be okay.
