Amusing

There was a smell coming from the kitchen. Since Velvet's litter box is there, I'm vigilant about any smells and so far, I've been successful in keeping the kitchen smell free. So I caught a whiff of something (turned out to be some food on the floor I'd missed when cleaning) rotting behind the table.

Anyway, the kitten was sitting next to me and when I started sniffing to figure out the source of the smell, his eyes got all wide and he immediately went into alert kitty mode. I thought perhaps he'd spotted something that caught his attention and thought nothing of it. Started sniffing again and he quickly drew back from me and bolted out of the kitchen.

I chalked it up to a case of the feline crazies and went on with my day.

Later, while studying, a sneezing fit came upon me. Kitten happened to be snoozing next to me and kept right on sleeping. But when I sniffled a bit, he hightailed it out of the room.

My cat is afraid of sniffling.

Who knew?

OMGosh, I've never heard of a cat being afraid of that before, how funny!

Re: Amusing

...did your sniffing sound, maybe, like a hiss?

Re: Amusing

No, it pretty much sounds like sniffling...slightly louder than an intake of breath.

And he's been hissed at before by feral cats that were living in my friend's back yard where I found him. He didn't seem to be especially afraid of them when they did it.
