Chattering Mouth

My kitten of about 4 months every now and again. (I've seen it 3 times now) She went to meow before and as she was meowing her jaw was chattering, shes done it twice when meowing and once when eating.

Any ideas??

Re: Chattering Mouth

Chattering is usually associated with seeing prey. Mine chatter when they see a squirrel, chipmunk or bird outside. Chattering at her food...guess she's gonna have to stalk and kill it!

Re: Chattering Mouth

Here's a YouTube video that shows a cat doing what I think you're talking about. Is this it? In this case, the cat was apparently engrossed in a moth flying in the room.

Re: Chattering Mouth

What the others said.

I was working with a cat today in work, we were going to shave her tummy to look for a spay scar and any time I touched her or went to pick her up she would chatter until I stopped touching her. So I wonder if it's not just a prey thing. I first thought maybe I was hurting her but no matter what way I touched her she did it, then I thought maybe she was afraid so I wrapped her in a towel to pick her up and she still did it. She finally stopped when the clippers were turned on and we started shaved her.
