How am I going to survive the weekend without kitties?

I haven't been away from my girls overnight since we got them last October and we're going away for the weekend in a few days.... I'm already missing my girls and we haven't left yet! Since I've been out of work for seven months I've gotten used to being with them all day, almost every day, and on the days when we're gone from morning to night I'm always rushing in the door to see them when we get back home! And they come sleep with us and wake me up in the mornings....

Do you guys go nuts if you're away from your kitties? Or have I just turned into a crazy cat lady?

Yes, you are certainly a crazy cat lady. So am I. (actually my son is calling me psycho cat lady since adopting the last one, but that's another story.) Probably so are most of the ladies on this forum. And the men are probably crazy cat men.
I have a 40 minute drive home from work. That last stretch of the drive home seems to take forever because I'm so looking forward to walking in the door and having the cats greet me.
I hope you are at least going somewhere fun?

Sue

I certainly went nuts when I didn't have my Tobe this last weekend.

The place felt empty.

I always feel bad leaving my cats when I go away. They always seem to know we're leaving and start acting especially cute

Our cats are such a support system for us. It's totally natural to feel badly leaving them behind for a few days. I really miss snuggling with my cats when I'm away from home.

I am sure they will be fine, but of course you'll worry as well all do. But do try to have a good time, wherever you're going, and they will be so happy to see you when you get home

Honeymoon. Ireland. 12 days away from my Duchess. I called the cat sitter every other day and had email updates everyday. Yes my Better half understands!!!

The more people I meet the more I love my cat!

Sounds great! The real tragedy would be having your trip diminished at all because of missing Duchess, but believe me, I know that's easier said than done. I struggle with this every vacation I take, even though we have a great cat-sitter who comes twice a day. I would really like to get to the point where trips aren't semi-ruined by missing Murphy, but I haven't mastered that yet. Any ideas are welcome.

I'm heading off to Michigan for the weekend, not too far away, and I know I'll have a good time, I'm just hoping I don't ruin the trip for myself with missing my little furballs. I've got my cat-loving relatives coming to feed them and play with them twice a day, but I still feel guilty because I know Fern hates changes to her routine! I just hope nobody barfs while I'm gone.

Re: How am I going to survive the weekend without kitties?

I'm a horrible person. I'd like to send them on a vacation for a night or two just to see what it would be like to walk across a room without someone diving in front of me. Granted it'd be empty and it's not a lifestyle I'd like but 1 night would be nice.

Someone should open a summer camp for kitties.

It's so funny we accept that. Mia hunkered down and almost barfed on the couch last night. I didn't even think "Oh noes, the couch..how am I going to clean that?" Instead I though, "poor kid, get it over with and you'll feel better".

She just ate too much chicken too fast.

Re: How am I going to survive the weekend without kitties?

Dave, I'm totally with you on the camp idea. The thing about cats is that they're always home. I'd love, say, 2 hours in the house without Murphy home on a given Saturday afternoon so I can do things like vacuum without worrying about him freaking out and running to the basement. Then, of course, I'd miss him like crazy and want him to come home sooner.
