New kitten

Hi all,

I brought my new kitten home on Monday, she is such a cutie, (no name yet ) She has been kept in our spare room since she has been home. I have a 3yr old male cat (pepsi) who doesn't seem to have noticed the new arrival. I thought he would be at the room door constantly scratching to get in and do his nosey. Last night i decided to introduce them for the first time, don't think it went too well. I put the kitten in her cat box and brought her into the same room that pepsi was in, as soon as pepsi heard the kitten cry he was out the room like a shot sitting at the front door scratching to get out. i tried to pet pepsi trying to give him some reassurance but he was just growling. I let him out and he stayed out all night, which can be quite a regular thing anyway. I let him in this morning and gave him some food and love, he wanted straight back out and i haven't seen him since. He does like to wander for long periods of time but not usually in the rain (it has been raining heavy all day). I am just bit worried he is not taking to this very well. Am i over reacting or is this quite normal. I just want to make sure i get it right.

Dawn xxx

Re: New kitten

hmmm.... every cat reacts differently to a new arrival. I perhaps would have introduced them into the kittens room first.
Its possible he feels outed in some way. I think the best thing to do is coax him back and start again. Put the kitten back in the room and let him settle down again.

Other members have more experience than me on this so they can give you the correct advice.

Just take your time with them, and i hope all goes well.
