Tell me about cats again, please.

So I was worried that Zenobi wasn't drinking enough water. The temperatures have been record breaking. There are a few other cats that ramble around the yard, so I filled a big container (1 gal) and left it outside. I've done this before when I was feeding a feral cat. The raccoons used to come around at night and take a bath; or so it seemed judging from how dirty the water was some mornings. Zenobi came across it and you'd think she hadn't had water for a month. I don't mind, but I'd like to know why. I suspect chlorine, and that with water that has stood for a while it has evaporated. The same goes for rain puddles on the sundeck. Neighborhood cats come around and drink, even those whose owners tell me that they always have water available.

As I said in the topic line: Tell me about cats.

Re: Tell me about cats again, please.

Cats...are cats. And that's that!

I can get my cats to drink more if I use small "water glasses" instead of bowls. It's like they think: "Oooh! I'm a Big Cat now, I get to drink out of a GLASS!" Of course, I have to fill them more often, and clean up some spills when they knock them over, but hey...what else do I have to do all day but cater to their whims?
