Free whitepaper The security implications of Web 2.0

A Florida man accused of downloading more than 1,000 images of child pornography is blaming the offense on his cat, according to published reports.

Keith Griffin of Jensen Beach is charged with 10 counts of child porn possession after detectives found the images on his home computer, the Associated Press reports.

Investigators say Griffin told them his cat jumped onto his computer keyboard while he was downloading music. After returning to his machine following a brief trip to another room, he found "strange things" had happened to the machine. He said his cat frequently hopped on the keyboard when the PC was left on.

The 48-year-old is being held on $250,000 bond in the Martin County jail. It is unclear if the cat was neutered

The last time people tried to elimate free roaming cats it resulted in The Black Plague.

Re: Keep your cats away from your computers

Oh, my. I don't know if that's the worst "bad excuse whopper" ever but it's certainly right up there.

My cats seem to have a strange interest in viewing the source of web pages (Ctrl+U in Firefox) but to date have never downloaded porn.

If I ever find a cache of pictures of un-neutered tomcats on my laptop, I guess I'll know where they came from, though.

Re: Keep your cats away from your computers

I wonder if they'll have to dust the keyboard for paw prints

Even if he could convince a judge/jury the cats might've done it, he's still responsible!

Got to give him props on a creative excuse though! Probably only in the bows of drugs and psychosis could one come up with something so retarded.

I've worked for two County Jails and I've always said: "Our 'guests' aren't here because they were smart."

What a pathetic man. Blaming his poor innocent kitty for his depravity.

I'm sure Fluffy is none too pleased about his secret addiction getting out. I guess that's how he got his furry palms.

Numbskull has no idea how much more pathetic this makes him look. I wish I could have seen the look on the face of the investigators. Cat indeed....

Fluffy just misspelled "Kitty Porn" in Goggle.

Will investigation be able to determine keystrokes or whatever so they can determine 'how' this happened? Irregardless, if the images were downloaded by mistake they wouldn't have been saved, and would have been immediately deleted, therefore, nothing incriminating on the computer....right? IF they were actually 'unwanted'.
If they were saved to a file or something...I think that is a few too many specific keystrokes and mouse clicks for *any* pet to have done correctly. No matter HOW smart our cats are.

This is just a cat version of blame. Similar to the dog example: "the dog farted".

Re: Keep your cats away from your computers

When Arianwen used to walk on my keyboard, she managed to turn the computer off a couple of times.
That was before she learned the computer actually had some merit. Now that she knows the computer has pictures of her on it, she leaves it alone.
My virtuous lil' genius kitty never downloaded any kitty porn, though. Or if she did, it's in an invisible folder.
