Which cat for a third in the house?

Hubby and I have been thinking of adopting a third cat, and we're thinking of adopting one of two that we've already met and spent some time with at the same shelter our two girls came from. I'd appreciate your thoughts!

Anissa is Fern and Fergie's biological mom, although of course there are no guarantees that mother and daughters would get along now that they're all adults. Anissa wasn't a very good mom, so a different cat actually nursed and cared for her kittens, my two included. http://www.petfinder.com/petnote/displa ... id=8685533

Ginger was our second choice if we hadn't adopted Fern and Fergie. I feel like she'll never be adopted because she has some type of issue that makes her walk funny, but she's adorable and very loving. We ultimately didn't pick her for our first pet because we were both working and thought it would be better to have two cats to keep each other company during the day. http://www.petfinder.com/petnote/displa ... id=7733678

In your honest opinion which do you think would fit your other two cats purrsonalities better?

Re: Which cat for a third in the house?

Well, unfortunately when it comes to adding a cat to a household with other cats, you can't just take the one that you fall in love with first.

You have to fall in love AND so do your other 2 cats. Making things a little more complicated.

Have you talked to the foster mom to see which one she feels would be best for your home & other felines?

I would do so if you haven't. Discuss their personalities, and your own cats' personalities. You can learn from her on the cats' reactions to strange cats and which would probably be the most peaceful addition to your home.

Personally, both have winning factors. #1 You can have a whole cat family which is just fun to know and #2 You can take in a ''special needs'' cat that might get overlooked by those who want a perfect cat instead.

Both sound like great options, but I would really get in contact with the foster and discuss it amongst the two of you to help figure out which cat would be the best fit. She would know the answer better than anyone here who don't know all the cats involved.

I mean this post in the most respectful way possible, just to play devils advocate...

Are you and your SO still unemployed at this point? If so, I would seriously reconsider adopting a third cat right now. I know your heart is in the right place, but it would be irresponsible to adopt another mouth to feed with no income.

*hugs*

No problem, I know you're looking out for the kitties... Hubby is working but not me yet. We're not going to adopt a third until I'm employed again, but it's on my mind quite a bit. I keep thinking about Ginger, and he keeps talking about Anissa, and I'm not sure how we're going to decide who to adopt since our shelter mom thinks that either one would probably be fine with my girls!

After reading about Ginger it made me want her. I hope someone adopts her.
