Cat Breed

I originally posted in the breeding forum, but after looking through other posts, I found Cat breed threads in here, and I thought maybe I would get a better response.

I recently acquired a kitty from a family member, and I was wondering what kind of cat he was. I was told he could be a
California Spangled and after looking on the web at these cats, I have to agree that he very much resembles them. Of course I'm no cat expert so I was looking for a little help. Any suggestions on what he might be?

If clearer images are needed, let me know. :] Thanks.

This is my same reply from the Breeding Forum. One of these threads will be
closed/locked/removed since they are duplicates.

I'm sorry. Without registration certificates verifying his parentage, your kitty
is a common Domestic Short Hair (DSH) tabby cat with the Mackerel pattern.
His Mackerel Pattern looks like the Broken Striped pattern.
Very cute and he looks like he's full of personality. I do *NOT* want to know
what he was looking at that caused him to do the "OMG-face" in the first pic.
heidi =^..^=

Re: Cat Breed

Thirded...basic Cutie Patootie mackerel tabby.

California Spangled cats are one of the rarest breeds around and very unlikely your family member would have one in their possession and not know it.

Getting a spangled cat is difficult since numbers are limited, prices high, and waiting lists long. Spangled cats begin at about $800 and go up to $2500, sometimes more. Too, preference may be given to people who will be active in breeding their cats, since numbers are vital to the advancement of this breed.

Maybe it was generated. Remember 'urinated him off'. I have a theory

The last time people tried to elimate free roaming cats it resulted in The Black Plague.
