Re: Just got a new two month old cat

congrats!

wow...where to start

things you need to do if they arent done already

spay/neuter
test for common feline deseases....FLEV, and a few others (vet can tell you what should be tested for)
vaccinations for rabies (may be too young for that)

somepeople are for or against...
microchipping
vaccinatiosn for things like clamydia, feline verson of AIDs

i know there are some things im forgetting. I would say the best thing is to look up your local non-profit animal care type place. they will reccomend all the things to do to make sure your kitten is currently healthy, and stays healthy. and they will do it all and a fraction of the cost your regular vet will do it for.

for example, my regular vet wanted 250 bucks to spay my Allie. couldnt afford that. the local non-profit org spayed her for 40 dollars.

again...look up a non-profit organization in your area, and they can tell you ALL about what you should do for your new pet!

Cat trees can sometimes be had at local flea markets. And, of course you'll need a litter box, and food/water dishes.
Food and water should be ten feet or more away from the litter box, if possible.
Plenty of scratching surfaces for exercise and claw maintenance. Catnip, and toys, like Da Bird, for extra fun, too.
Congratulations on embarking on your adventurous new life with cats!

Re: Just got a new two month old cat

The first vet visit is very important. My vet gives everyone with a new kitty, no matter the age, a "starter" kit, with food, treats, a "diary" for stories and pictures, and some other things I can't remember right now.
