Soft Paws - don't think I got them on well enough

So I got tired of pulling Samson off my pant leg and Delilah off the window screens and ordered Soft Paws.

I put them on Samson tonight (well I got 8 on before he got tired of me playing with his paws). He didn't chew on them and doesn't seem to notice them there.

But, what I noticed when he plays and extends his claws all the way, I didn't cover the entire nail. I guess when I push the nail out I don't get it as far as he does when flexing.

Any soft paw users out there who can tell me if this is going to be a problem?

Thanks in advanced.

I think you're supposed to trim their nails before applying them. Which is why I've never used them. I figured once their nails were trimmed.....

The kitten one say Not to trim first.

Also, even with the trim they got at the vet a few weeks ago, Delilah can scale the screen doors. I'm also hoping to save some Very expensive furniture. They haven't been allowed in that room yet, but eventually I want them to have the run of the house so I thought I'd give these a try.
