Going on a two week vacation......Need suggestions

My husband and I are on a two week vacation out of the country in a month and have decided that it's best to hire a pet sitter to come in and check/feed our cats opposed to boarding them. Now, two weeks is a long time and one of my cat is VERY attached to me. I know the two weeks are going to be hard on him. Any suggestions as to how I can make those two weeks less boring/stressful on my cats???
I'm planing on getting a couple of interactive toys for them for when we're gone and I've taken away their turbo track so the novelty doesn't wear off and will give it back to them for those two weeks. I"m also thinking of leaving a radio on just for background noise....

Anything else I can do? Having people other than the petsitter come in and play with them isn't really an option. We moved here from Cali not too long ago, have no family in this state and don't know that many people( no one I'd trust enough).

P.S. Also, If you know of a good petsitter in Houston area...let me know.

Leave some clothing with your scent on it lying around on beds, couch, chairs etc. Old stuff that you won't care if they sleep all over it, maybe sleep in some old t-shirts the last few nights before you leave and don't wash them.

They make DVDs for cats with birds, chipmunks, squirrels etc. that many cats find fascinating. Some of them have a continuous loop mode, but I think that just desensitizes them. I would opt for having the cat sitter turn it on before she leaves.

I think a pet sitter will be fine for your babies. You may want to leave a TV on or put one on a timer to go on/off for several hours during the day and evening. Be sure to have your sitter collect your mail. Leave contact numbers for you and an itinerary if you are traveling to various places on your vacation. Notify your vet of your plans and give them permission for whatever procedures you would like them to treat in your absence. Also, your vet will be a good resource for quality pet-sitters.
