Cat seems to have run away

Hi,

We have not seen our cat since Thursday 14th January although we think he was seen by 2 neighbours on Saturday 16th . We have owned the cat for 5 years. The only thing that has changed recently is that my wife has gone back to work after 9 months of maternity leave and we have had to start leaving our dogs at home by themselves. A new dog which we got in November has been barking quite a bit during the day and sometimes doesn't leave the cats alone although he knows his place with the one that has gone missing.

I wondered whether the cat (Sox) is a little bit annoyed at the dogs barking (we think we have this under control now) and has gone away for a bit of peace and quiet. I wondered if he will return when it is a bit quieter or whether to expect that he has now gone forever.

It is not entirely unusual for him to go away when something changes, e.g. new cat 3 years ago, first dog 2 years ago etc, baby 9 months ago but it has usually only been about 3-4 days.

Does anybody have a similar experience of this and if so please can you let me know your thoughts.

Many thanks

Gillian

Sounds like if hes done similar things before, your chances are good he'll come back. Maybe he's got someone else feeding him too? Good luck!

If it's a pattern then he'll most likely come back, unless someone else found him and decided to snatch him up. Good luck.

Re: Cat seems to have run away

I did read a story about a cat that left home after a third child was born. Six months later it was found living with a family half a block away. When it was brought home, it promptly left again and returned to its new family.
