Interesting Kitty

This cat has been hanging around the last couple of days, eating on the porches. He's been coming off and on for a while but is staying around more now. Will be putting up posters this weekend, grocery store and post office etc, to see if someone's missing him, but just thought I'd post a couple of pictures as I've not seen a lot of partial tailed cats wandering around. Does he look part Manx to anyone?

Re: Interesting Kitty

Aww, what a cute dustmop with eyes. I only thought that dogs came in the "dustmop" variety. I think this might be a kitty that maybe had part of his tail amputated, the tail is too long for manx. Though that could be part of the "dustmop" effect.

Good luck on finding his owner.

Re: Interesting Kitty

Thanks, he is a sweetie. I'm so hoping that someone calls about him. If not, then I'll try to find him a home or take him in.
eta: I had a feeling his tail was kind of long for a Manx but have never actually seen one. Poor guy, (or girl, I can't get close enough to see) I hope it wasn't too awful if it was an amputation.

Re: Interesting Kitty

He is a cute. fluffy thing. I have a cat with a partial, crooked tail, but it is shorter than this man's tail.

I found an interesting article about tail less cats http://(<a href="http://www.messybea...-cats.html</a>) which showed drawings of all sorts of tail lengths, and types. Your man might have a "longy Manx" tail?!?!?

Re: Interesting Kitty

Thank you Leazie. Interesting article. If he/she is part Manx he may have a better chance of someone claiming him! He's quite timid but doesn't mind me taking pictures through the window.

Re: Interesting Kitty

I think s/he looks beautiful. I want to say 'he' because the coloring reminds me of my Dusty-boy.
We had a "bobtail", though I have no clue if she was a true Manx or if it was simply a genetic anomaly or defect. Blaze's tail was about 4" long and ended in a "mace", a round 'club' of a tail. It was as if those last few joints of her tail curled around into a tight corkscrew and formed a little ball on the end of her tail. She did NOT like for her tail to be touched.

Re: Interesting Kitty

I think he's beautiful too. The pictures don't do him justice.
I haven't gotten the chance to pet him yet but will remember about the tail.

Re: Interesting Kitty

Yeah I thought of part Maine as he's a fair size and with the dust mop look and tufting in his ears, or perhaps Cymric, or as you say the poor guy might have gotten into a bit of trouble. Whatever he is, he is welcome and safe here till someone claims him.

Re: Interesting Kitty

He may eventually tame down enough to let you TNR him, and give him a good overall checkup. He looks like a tough old dustmop of a kitty.
But those are the most rewarding.
