In the past few days Arianwen has been more affectionate, and more confident and playful.
A while ago, I was playing with Arianwen. We were having fun, and she was purring very loudly, in a "cat laughter" way. Joking as she gently pounced, I said, "I am not a big mouse! What am I going to do if you eat my hand all up?". She purred even louder, and with a kitty grin, she softly said, "Yes, mouse. Eat you!". She tussled with my hand, with claws retracted, and just touching me with her teeth, and bunny-kicking with claws in, Arianwen didn't leave a single mark. After doing this for a few seconds, she stopped the play predation, clasped my hand firmly to her chest, saying in pretty clear English, "Heart. Love you!". I'm not sure precisely what her thought was, but I think she meant,"I love you with all my heart!".
Last week, Arianwen did not like playing that intensely. She would get to that point, and make a sad meow, with a sad, haunted look in her eyes. Like she was remembering some past trauma associated with play.
I'm so happy my loving kitty is starting to leave her traumatic past behind. She's gaining confidence in herself, and more trust in me.
That was a "Hallmark moment". So touching I had to share.
