Fay and Mia are so spoiled I'm ashamed.

Fay decided a long time ago that the best way to keep an eye on me and make sure I'm not having any unauthorized fun with Mia is to hand out on the back of the couch near me. But she's a big cat and that's not a comfortable spot. The other night she was having a tough time sleeping there and actually had an arm stretched out and down to the armrest to keep herself in place so I decided that I'd get a new half height cat tree and put it behind that section of the couch so she can relax.

When I brought it in and placed it last night all kitty **** broke lose. The first competetion was to see wo could sharpen their claws on it to first to lay claim to it. The minutes Mia made the first scratching noise the fighting started. Within 20 minutes I HEARD Mia get thunked in the head 3 times. On the second level there's a barrel type perch with an openning. Fay mercilessly pounded Mia through it but Mia is fiesty, she'll never give up just because Fay is twice her size so I eventualy took it away and put it in the off limits room with the unused exercise equiptment. The kids were still ticked at each other this morning.

Try to do something nice and they just have to be spoiled and ruin it.

The only solution is to get a second tree.

I have 2 others. I don't know why this one caused such an uproar.

...because it was *new*. You needed to give them TWO *new* cat trees. They were like kids fighting over the last cookie.

New cat product idea. A platform that can be attached to the top of a couch.

Ah, the fog has cleared! Now I know why you posted that in the "Claim to Fame" thread.

If you don't mind ruining your couch, I don't see why you couldn't fasten a kitty perch on the back. Then your bickering kitties could both be happy. The more we spoil them, the smarter they get!

The couch in the family room is cheap. If I could figure out how to do it I would. I have NO mechanical/carpentry skills.

It would just have to be a tall table with padding, luxurious padding, of course! Then you wouldn't have to ruin the couch. OR------Buy a sofa table (for behind love seats, etc.) and raise it a few inches with whatever you have. No one will be able to see it if it's against the wall. I'll bet you could get one second hand at Goodwill. I'm not putting you on; I really think it would work! If you do it, make sure to take pictures!
