Tried a new cheap clumping litter

So after the advice of someone on another forum I decided to try Tractor Supplies clumping cat litter which is like $5.50 for 25 lbs. This is the best thing I've ever done, and I was sold on Walmart Special Kitty prior. Its low dust, scent free and clumps hard!

I highly recommend it--I've used 4 bags (3 big litter boxes that needed emptied and refilled) and I'm going to buy 2 more.

I know Tractor Supply isn't an option for everyone but wanted to share regardless!

I've seen them advertise on TV, but they have yet to establish a presence here in Manhattan

Hey Leslie, would you mind posting the name of the litter, or a google photo? I went to my TSC today and coudln't find anything cheaper than what I am currently buying at Sam's Club in the next town over. It could be that my store was out...but I think a name/photo could help me identify it better.

Re: Tried a new cheap clumping litter

I get it that this might be an issue for Heidi with 8 (is that right?) cats. But really -- I use MAYBE 40 pounds of litter in 2 mos. I get the "fancy" stuff at $16 for 40#. $8 a month for litter for 3 cats -- who needs to comparison shop on that? I don't get that, really.

Re: Tried a new cheap clumping litter

Eh, it isn't really shopping and comparing prices, but it sorta is... I use about 2 40# buckets a month, which I purchase at Sam's for about $9-$11 (we'll say $20/mo). I'm usually going to Sam's *anyways* for other things so it isn't a big deal to travel for it. BUT, if TSC had comparable for similar pricing, I wouldn't mind paying a *little bit* more ... but not nearly TWICE what I am currently purchasing at Sam's. I'd rather drive.

Re: Tried a new cheap clumping litter

Your entitled to that opinion hoofmaiden, I was just sharing my experience with the group--if its advice you don't need thats perfectly fine, but others might. I don't think it solely applies to those with 8 cats, I currently have four using a litter box.

I know that any dollar I can save is worth it to save in this economy. If it works the same as "fancy" brands, why pay the higher price for the same product?

Heidi, I have an empty bag I will take a picture of it if I get a chance, otherwise I'm sure I saw it on the website and will put up a link. Busy day here, had a construction crew demo-ing our kitchen wall, for our kitchen remodel.

Re: Tried a new cheap clumping litter

I am jealous. We had hoped to be doing some kitchen remodeling this spring but it needed to be pushed back to a possibility for next year. *le sigh*
Thanks, if you can find a link or Google link-pic, that would be fine.
