Links on Introducing Cats?

I want to introduce my 8 year old cat to my residential kittens. (I took her from my family home to live with me and my other kittens so the kittens are technically the residents). I was hoping someone would have some REALLY helpful links for me!
Thanks so much!

Re: Links on Introducing Cats?

Here is my Introduction Diary for my most recent intro -- Jonah the kitten to resident cats Lincoln and Calvin (and 3 resident dogs as well). Hope it helps!

Re: Links on Introducing Cats?

Here's a good article for introducing cats:

http://www.littlebigcat.com/index.php?a ... roductions

And this website has good information on all things cat, too!

Good luck!

Re: Links on Introducing Cats?

Thanks! BUT...
Ok We began using baby gates today so the my two resident 7 mos could meet my 8yr old "new comer" (I had this cat before I got the other 2 but hadn't brought her to my apt yet). Immediately as the door was opened all three cats went to the holes of the gate and started sniffing each other. They all seemed very curious. Out of absolutely NO where, the youngest kitten freaked! she hissed and took off like a crazy kitty. This put my 8 yr old on guard and caused her to back away from the gate and start posturing, hissing, and growling (something i had expected to occur anyways). Now the youngest is hissing at her other kitten companion and won't let her near her. This is really scary bc these cats are inseparable! The sleep together everyday and refuse to be in separate rooms. The elder kitten keeps stalking her and trying to test her boundaries. She seems kinda upset that the little kitten is yelling at her. But she is still trying to get near her i think to comfort her. I wasnt expecting this intro to be without stress but this is horrible! Im worried I may have ruined their deep sisterly bond. Any advice???

Re: Links on Introducing Cats?

You should probably start over, but not letting them see each other. The link I posted has good advice.

Re: Links on Introducing Cats?

Ok well the youngest doesnt seem as upset anymore. She's starting to calm down and let the elder kitten by her. It seems she just needed a little space...?
We are going to leave the door with the baby gates cracked slightly so the kittens dont have to see the older cat unless they want to and keep stress at a minimum

Re: Links on Introducing Cats?

Well, some people do just let the cats sort it out for themselves. There are no "rules" - EXCEPT, we'd like pictures.

Re: Links on Introducing Cats?

I'll take some pictures of em individually since we have the door closed at the moment...I don't think Brittany will mind if I steal her camera and hijack her thread by taking pics.

Re: Links on Introducing Cats?

This is Aries the bad ass of the litter since she weighs around a pound more than Isis

THis is Isis who is the one thats being a little butt right now and hissing at her sister...even when she is the one that starts getting in the others face.

and this is Hiei our newest addition the same cat who had the infected uterus and trouble eating and she is doing much better now.
