Talking Gabby's antics

Every day more of Gabby's personality is showing up. Last night was the funniest night yet. It started off with the laser light which is by far her favorite toy. I had her running all over the place. After I crawled into bed I played with it a bit more. There is a small space between my opened bedroom door and the closet door. When I made the light disappear into that space Gabby would dart around the door to catch it. But if I turned it off it was even funnier, because she would go all over the place looking for it. LOL

Earlier in the evening I was sitting at my computer desk and on the other side of my recycling box I could tell Gabby was pouncing on and attacking something. I couldn't see what it was so I got up to look and found out the object of her attention was a gum wrapper. It wasn't even a shiny one, it was just a dull green. I laughed sooooo hard.

Then when I woke up in the middle of the night I stirred around a bit trying to find another comfy spot. I couldn't get back to sleep right away so I opened up my eyes and there was Gabby about 2 inches away from my face staring at me. It took me a while to get back to sleep and every time I stirred around she would jump up on my bed, circle around me as if to make sure everything was all right, then jump back down and lay in the doorway. I swear she was keeping watch and protecting me. Sweet sweet kitty. It's fun to see her personality come out and I can hardly wait until she's fully comfortable here in her new home. I'd say she's adjusting very well.

Another funny thing she does is before she eats anything she has to use the litter box. Weird...

I think I missed your intro post - how old is Gabby?

I love that cats have such complex personalities that are constantly changing. We've had our kittens since January 1st, when they were 4 months old, and we've had SO much fun seeing their little personalities emerge and change. Lily is EXTREMELY mischievous and tricky, while Spencer is just plain hilarious.

Gabby's pouncing and attacking absolutely sounds like Lily, although I've caught Spencer pouncing on weird things, a tiny piece of dry spaghetti he finds on the floor.

Life with cats is certainly never boring.

Spencer and Katie
and Lily, always in our hearts

Gabby is two and a half years old. My forum name, Gabby169, comes from where Gabby was found as an approximately 3 week old kitten, on the side of hwy 169 here in Minnesota. Somebody apparently thought it was a good idea to dump her off on the side of a major highway. I helped take care of her when she was a tiny kitten and her former human is selling her house to move to something smaller and she knows she can't take all 3 of her kitties with her. She knew I was looking to get a kitty soon so she asked me if I would adopt Gabby. It didn't take long for me to say yes! I've had her home with me since last Tuesday.

I thought the part about her being your protector was so sweet. It sounds like she's very comfortable in her new home.
