Missy was terrified

I'm having a new roof put on, and the roofers were up there tearing the old one off and making lots of noise. Missy hid behind the couch. Eventually I was able to coax her out, but she was still fearful and moving close to the ground and needing lots of comfort. Nor would she eat until they'd gone. Poor girl, they're back tomorrow.

I hope she goes back to normal. My boy was very outgoing as a kitty and up past a year, greeting everyone who came to the door. Then we had renovations done---a complete bathroom, and new laminate flooring in the basement and another bathroom reno downstairs there. With all the banging, sawing, noise, workmen stomping in and out of the house, he would hide from them the whole day under our bed. No amount of coaxing would make him come out, but as soon as the workmen left, he came out on his own. That was 5 years ago, and Zuba still runs and hides in our bedroom if he hears the doorbell ring, and won't come out on his own if there are visitors. Funny thing is, tho, that if I pick him up and bring him out and introduce him, he's fine and will stay and lap up attention from visitors. But he never seemed to get over the doorbell thing. Never bothered my girl Alkee tho.

They sort of fall into a habit and the doorbell means danger, whether they can even remember why they began to think that or not (well, so do humans). I would think you can break that habit if you want.

Poor little thing! We're having building done at the moment and there's bits of blue wall paper, and Kitty is absoluetly petrified of it!
They get very scared sometimes....
Hope Missy's safe
