Do you have a hunter cat or a beacon cat?

I just realized that I have 2 bug beacon cats.

Because of the weather, I've been having more insect invasions in the house lately. I've increasing found one of the cats just sitting and staring in some corner or place on the floor. I go up to look and see a crawling bug. The most Miu will do is bat it a bit or try to mouth it. That is all. Cap'n Jack just stares with a stupified expression. Sigh. I end up having to dispose them.

What mystifies me is that Cap'n Jack was a previous stray. Didn't he eat insects when he was outside? Sometimes he acts like he's never seen one before. Weird. As for Miu, maybe after she mouths them she figures it won't taste good and leaves me to clean the mess.

we though at one time our little calico had health issues, then we relized that her jerking head movements and other strange motions was just tracking the flight of tiny gnats (wich she would eventually catch them when they came within range) our calico we have now is the house spider exterminator..

yeti cat: two toes short of the record books
eons ago there must had been a creature with a roar
like a vacuum cleaner, it most likely ate cats.
smokey, yeti, pansy, violet, ember and brullie

Both of our cats track bugs when they see them (we haven't had too many bugs in here - it's not very hot yet), but they don't seem to know what to do with them. They'll bat the bug with their paw, chase it, bat it again..but they don't seem to know how to finish the job. haha. Once, Lily caught and ate a bug on our balcony. I was VERY impressed and proud, since she never knew her mom and has been indoors her whole life, so I don't think anyone ever taught her to hunt. She is definitely the better hunter of the two. Spencer gives up too easily. Once, there was a fly in our apt and she tracked and chased that thing for a good two hours...

I think that as Lily gets older (she's still a kitten - 9 months old) she may perfect her hunting skills.

Something just occurred to me...maybe we don't have bugs in the house because Lily is killing them when we don't see...hmmm...

All three kitties are hunters.
