Cat Litter

We've used Maxx scoop since we got the cats 6 years ago, but my cat's litter smells highly like ammonia and my sisters cat just smells all around litterboxwise, so we decided to choose another litter to try out, and got Arm n Hammer. I find that its a bit less dusty, but it has a weird smell to the litter itself, and the whole living room smells like the litter. I just finished the box off between the two litter boxes, and my mom is not a fan of the smell of Arm n Hammer. My dad doesn't want to spend much more of the price difference between the two on litter, does anyone have a not super expensive litter that wont fill my living room with scent, but still cover the odour?

There are two other currently active litter threads...I think you can get the info you need from them, so I'm closing this one.
