Microchip info lost

This may be a really stupid question, but I'm making a vet appointment in the next couple weeks (still shopping around vets) for a checkup for Peter and I no longer have his adoption or microchip records. LONG story, but they were essentially lost in a move and I have no way of retrieving them. He is chipped, I know this, but I have been unable to update my information.

Can a vet help me with this or do I need to have him rechipped?

Ask the vet to scan him and write down the microchip info. Then you'll both have it.

It's what K did with both Mow and Book because I lost theirs in my move.

Thanks. Just wanted to be sure what I was budgeting for on his checkup. An extra thirty bucks is an extra thirty bucks, you know?
