You have got to see this!

For anyone who has ever witnessed the maricle of any animal giving birth, I reccomend you check this site out. It's a cat breeder somewhere in Connecticut. They have a cat who is due literally anytime now. On their website there is a section where they have a live feed camera going. I have never seen a cat give birth but I've seen lots of other animals give birth and I hope I catch this one! I think it would be amazing! Anyway, for anyone interested here is the site. http://www.sandkats.com/enter.htm You can surf around their site and look at their cats and such if you want but if you want to see the pregnant cat near birth on cam click on 'available kittens' I sure wish I was at that breeders house right now! It looks like it will be any minute now!

I have never seen a kitty giving birth and that would be amazing to watch. I did participate at one 6 months ago. It was for the first time in my life I had seen a being giving birth -right under my nose. It was with a young lab called Dixie - her first delivery ( which was going to become her last). I was home alone recovering after a virus. It was about 6 pm when I heard a crying like a baby's and at first thought it was the TV. But then realized it was coming from the garage. I went there and found Dixie's first born wrapped in a pile of blankets ( she was probably trying to protect him). I was scared at first but then realized she was actually doing the hardest part and I stayed with her being her "right hand" to the very end. The funny thing was that I took the first baby, brought him in the house, wrapped him in a clean towel and then went back to Dixie; when showing him to her she picked him up in her mouth and dropped him !!! Poor thing, she was learning too. She was getting so tired and I had to help her wipe the "thingie" off the sweet little babies so they could breathe right away after popping out. When she got to number 10 we brought her in the house with all the babies ...but she wasn't done and gave birth to the last one on my left foot . It was one of the greatest experiences in my life. She is my husband's brother's doggie but like any other I see I call her mommy's baby. All of her 11 pups are now safe with their new parents :) !

If you ever find yourself in Ioana's position, use a clean towel to rub up the babies to "get them going." If they don't start "squeaking" right away, clean out their little mouths, hold them in the towel upside down and stimulate them with the towel. Mother usually does everything, but sometimes has one baby after another, and is too busy. That's when we have to assist a bit. It's a miraculous event; that's for sure!

Yeah pregnancy/birth is a wonderful thing. That was an interesting situation you were in, ioana. I bet it was a wonderful experience you will never forget. By the way, much to a lot of peoples surprise, I'm a male. I know it's sort of on the unusual side for a guy to be really into pregnancy and birth and babies and all that but I've been pretty much raised around it all. I was 9 when my sisters started getting pregnant and having kids. haha I think it's a wonderful process of life, definitely the most amazing in my opinion.

I was doing that same thing you described there, Jeanie. I had towels ready and remembered what I had watched for so many times on Animal Planet "That's My Baby" .
And Blue Animal - even though of feminin gender it was a little scary for me too at first. I was still recovering from being sick and wasn't quiete well myself.
And to answer to Louse76 also - 11 pups and stayed up from 6 pm to 3 am (well that only for the delivery - after the pups were born we were barely able to sleep 3 ours in a row - but what wouldn't I do for an animal in need?). When the fourth puppy was born help arrived but they thought they couldn't do what I was doing ...and I stayed there to the very end by Dixie's side. When we brought her in the house - we thought that was it. I was getting ready to go and take a shower and they saw her lifting her tail. Called my name to come quickly and of course I jumped right away- and the last chocolate pup was born on my shoe
It is an amazing experience indeed and I wish potential criminals could look at events like this (with humans or animals) ansd realize how hard it is to bring a being into being. And then the dedication to raise that being ...I think it would make a difference if tought what being responsible means
