Is my cat small?? Or anyone elses?

Hi. I have a question. I have a female cat, who to me seems small. The reason i am asking is, well two reasons. I went to the vet with her today and they weighed her. She weighs 6 1/2 pounds, which isnt bad and shes 11 months, so maybe that doesnt make her small, but i did buy soft claws for her, kitten ones at that, and they dont fit. i mean they are huge of her. So i didnt put them on. I did ask the vet and he said that she just my be a petite cat for her life. I just hope nothings wrong. I can't get her fixed either for at least 3 weeks, because he wanted to start her distemper and worming shots again. He also said it would be a good idea to check her for fel. leuk. tests?? She did have these done. Is this normal or just more for a bill?? But i guess my main question is does anyone else have a small kitty??? Or could she be sick and i dont know?

Do you know what breed she is?? Some breeds are built differently and not all cats are going to be the same weight at a certain age. My cat Stix is about 1 1/2 and he is 12 pounds. Kota is about 10 months and she probably is around 6.5 or 7, like your kitty. The vet told me she is healthy, so I don't worry about it. It's okay if she's on the small side, she can still beat Stix up with no problem.

I have a munchkin kitty! (Not the breed, just a tiny cat.) She is just over 8 lbs and 16 months old. Everything about her is tiny, from her little head to her itty-bitty feet. I jokingly told her to stop growing at around 8 months, and she obliged.

My Tabby who is now 4 and 8.5lbs (at one point she was 9.5lbs) was 6lbs until she was almost 2 years old. Then she suddenly started to gain more weight. Nothing was different I think she just finally reached maturity.

I had the issue with Jinx, but I got really worried. The tests the vet wants to do are normal, and it will ease your mind to rule out big problems like that. All Jinx's tests came back great, but the vet gave him a special diet. That speeded growth a little, but at 2 1/2 he's still a little guy. Some cats just are. I'd say if the vet recommends a test, do it. But if the vet's not too concerned, I wouldn't be either. Good luck! Hope all's well with your kitty. Let us know.
