black cats

Okay, well I have always wondered this. Black cats are so hard to adopt out who here would consider adopting a black cat if they wanted another kitty?

Never really thought about it.
I have 2 black cats right now. I dont really desire one cat colour to another.
Altho thats kinda a little lie, one day I would really like a white cat.

Personally, it may seem harsh but I wouldn't like having one...

Yes, I would. Isn't it funny, this subconcious thing people have against getting a black cat? Or a black dog, for that matter. Perhaps because we cannot see a lot of their form or features due to the dark coat.

That's unfortunate. It's a stupid thing to judge a cat by...

I think I would, as long as it was shorthaired. I haven't had a black cat since I was a little girl, and she was so sweet. I really have never "chosen" a cat before, both Stix and Kota were unexpected!

My first kitty love was a black kitty - Blackie (Negruta in Romanian actually). I used to sneak her in the appartment when my mom wasn't at home. I used to give her baths ..tried to dry her fur with the blow dryer but she didn't like it much . After having played with strings for a while I used to let her sleep in my bed while I would go out and play or visit my mom at her work place - right accross the street She never suspected anything. Negruta was the sweetest kitty and I miss her dearly. She eventually came in heat and moved to have her babies. I have seen her on the same street once and called her; she stopped and looked at me - I knew she had recognized me..but she moved on. My feelings were hurt. I was approx 10 years old. I wanted her for me, to care for her in the proximity of our home where she would be safer + have something to eat all the time and all the love she could ask for.
Before I/we adopted our (current)two kitties I thouhgt i would first have dogs and then a black cat in Negruta's memmory. But it didn't work that way. I do have more black kitties that I dreamt off on my in-laws property...I can pet 3 of them so that is something!
Oh, My father knew of her coming in as well - me and him fed her swiss cheese and peperoni for treats right on the linoleum kitchen floor..that we religiously cleaned after her leaving.
So yes, I would adopt a black kitty in a blink of an eye : I think they are very sleek and elegant!

I've got no problems with black cats. One of my favorite childhood cats, Burley, was all black.

I've always wanted a shorthair black cat. My birthday is near Halloween, so it's always been the holiday I get the most excited about. And, even though I'm not supersticious about black cats, they represent Halloween to me, so I'd love to have one of my own. Unfortunately we can't have another cat right now, but if we could, I'd definitely search one with green or amber eyes.
