If you know someone in W. Virginia who would like a cat or does cat rescue then please forward this to them.
The Mason County Animal Shelter in Point Pleasant, WV had strict limits
imposed on the shelter by the county. At no time is the shelter to hold more than
ten cats, and no cat is to be held longer than 14 days. The shelter is over
their limit on cats, and more cats are pouring in daily. There is no way the
shelter can hold that many animals, and the shelter has been forced to start
gassing. Many cats have already died, and many more will be put down soon if
they can't find rescues or forever homes.
Please take a look at the Petfinder site at
More than half the animals listed on the Petfinder site right now are cats,
and many of those are kittens. Only a fraction of the animals available at the
shelter are listed on Petfinder. There have been so many newcomers, the staff
can't even keep up with taking pictures and adding Petfinder listings, so
there are many, many, MANY more! Only cats with names under their names have
been spoken for by rescues. As you can see, there are only a handful who are
going to safety. Many others are still hoping for their second chance. Please
Take a look at Valerie, a beautiful domestic medium hair with a bushy tail.
Or Audrey, an adult female tabby with the most adorable smile. These two are
there the longest and are in most danger of being gassed. If you are
interested in adding a cat or a kitten to your family, now is the time to contact the
shelter. If you wait, it might be too late. If you can help, email Missy at
with a copy to [email protected]
. For most efficient
response, please include your name, address, phone number and email address
along with the name of your rescue, any web site URL AND the name, address and
phone number of the vet you use to alter and treat animals in your rescue.
