Cat hair..here, there, everywhere

It is summer over here at this part of the world. my cats started shedding in October, when it was time for winter to end. Polo was shedding so much it was unbelivable. If he'd just sat on the couch for a minute, there'd be an orange pile of hair after he got up. It got to a point where my bf banned them from sleeping with us in the bedroom. I tried brushing them often but it didn't help much. Is that normal for cats to shed so much? Please share your experiences and any suggestions with dealing with excessive cat hair.

How was your trip? I like the cat collage in your siggy!

Would bathing help? My cats don't shed that much, so between brushing and dust busting, it's not a big problem. I'm kind of a neat freak, so I can understand your frustration.

Baby sheds all the time! My dad goes through 2 or 3 vaccums a week, lol! I have to use the lint brush. We have a DLH. Maybe you can shave them I don't know .

What I meant to say is if you have a longhaired hair you can shave them so they have less hair, not completely bald!

lilly sheds all the time, from spring until winter when she grows in her winter coat. you run your hand down her back and come away with a handfull of hair. i brush her a lot too and it doesn't help. and she's a short-hair even. her hair never seems to get any thinner though, except when she's transitioning between winter coat and summer coat.

My life got so much easier with 4 handheld cordless vacuums installed around the house. I highly recommend them for dealing with the hair. I would go crazy sweeping, spraying, sweeping, and the hair would still float everywhere. Now I just grab the handheld and zap! soooo much better.
