Getting urine smells out of clothes??

Will regular washing of clothes with hot water & regular detergent get the smell of cat urine out of clothes/blankets? Or do I have to do something special with them??

When Nya had a bladder infection, she peed on a bunch of my clothes, and I soaked them in the bathtub with detergent applied TO the affected areas, for a few hours, then rinsed and washed as normal, and everything seemed fine

I just washed my housecoat at home that got peed on, and since it's white, i bleached as well, and one wash did it!

Some say you need more, but i've never really needed it!

It also may depend on
how long they have sat with the urine on them.

eewolfe, this is offtopic but whenever I got to a page that has you posted on it it gives me a screen where it asks for a password. Please fix your signature. Post it on here or either photobucket or imageshack. Thanks .

I use vinegar. I just pour vinegar in with the load and it helps, it's a disinfectant too. I've had some messy foster cats and vinegar has always worked well to clean the bedding.
