Mateo got out last night!!!!

Whenever I come home all my kitties are at the door waiting. Last night was no exception. I came home, unlocked the door and opened it. Zoee was laying on the top of the couch. Lamar, Zack and Mateo were all sitting inside the door. Mateo made a mad rush out the door. I dropped my bags and purse. The door was still cracked. I yelled at the other three to stay in the house and managed to get the door shut.

Mateo ran around the side of the house, into the back yard, through the back yard into the carport. With me chasing, screaming....MATEO, MATEO. There is a door on the other side of the carport. I figured I had him trapped. He wiggled under a shelf. I moved something to try and reach him and he bolted. I followed. Into the back yard, through the back yard, around the house, back to the front of the house. Still screaming....MATEO, MATEO!!! He stopped to investigate the bags and my purse which I had left there when he took off. I decided I wasn't going to chase him. I kneeled don and starting calling him. He looked at me like....is this a trap???? I kept calling him. He walked towards me and stopped. I kept calling him. He came closer and I pounced!!!! I snatched him back up and brought him inside. The other three were looking at me when I came in with him. I think they all knew he was in BIG trouble.

I think my neighbors probably thought I had lost my mind or was some crazy lady.

He spent the rest of the night meowing, following me everywhere and rubbing his head all over me

I almost had a heart attack when he got out!!! I am so glad I caught him!!!

I'm happy you got him in the end. You must've been so stressed out. Its so scary when they do a runner. Denzel's done it once, the same way at Mateo, when I came home he quickly slipped through but he didn't get far. And then yesterday for the first time quickly slipped through the balcony door (I'm on the first floor) - I almost had a heart attack!

Tess has made a mad dash out the door too. We did a chase around the house and over the wall into the neighbors. She knew what she was doing cuz she ended up back by the door.. this stinker!

The whole time this is going on your in a panic with visions of loosing her or running in front of a car etc. Mateo needs the cold shoulder! Shame on you for doing that to your mom!

He is getting sprayed with water everytime he even gets near the door when I open it!!! I keep a spray bottle outside the door because I come in and out alot with the dog. A few minutes ago I came in and he was near the door....he took off before I could spray him

I'm going to try and get a lock for our sliding door. Then we can come in and out through there. If someone decides to escape then they would be trapped in the screened porch. It is definitly something I don't want to experience again!!

I took him out last week on his harness, so now I'm wondering if that was a mistake and that is why he bolted out.
